My products are manufactured in China and sold across Asia. How should IP protection be structured?

Protection needs to follow both the manufacturing footprint and the sales footprint, and they are rarely the same list.

Where the goods are made. Register in the manufacturing jurisdiction even if nothing is sold there. Without a local registration, customs cannot detain infringing goods at export, and an OEM dispute becomes much harder to run.

Where the goods are sold. Register before launch, not after. Most Asian jurisdictions are first-to-file, and in several of them a squatter who files first can block the genuine owner's own import.

Where the goods pass through. Transhipment hubs — Hong Kong and Singapore in particular — are worth covering on their own account, because that is where interception is most practical.

Customs recordal is a separate step from registration in most of these jurisdictions and is often overlooked; it is what converts a registration into an enforceable border measure.
