Renewal. An application should be filed within 12 months before expiry. If missed, a 6-month grace period is available after expiry, subject to a late fee. If the grace period expires without renewal, the registration lapses, after which the mark becomes available for others to register.
Change of name or address. Record the change promptly once the underlying information changes, and cover every registration held in that name.
Assignment. The assignor and the assignee apply jointly, and the assignment takes effect on approval and publication. Any identical or similar marks the assignor holds for the same or similar goods must be assigned at the same time, failing which CNIPA may require correction or refuse the application.
