On August, 2025, a delegation from the China Trademark Association (CTA), led by President Ma Fu, visited Chang Tsi & Partners. The visit served as a platform for in-depth discussions on the current state of the intellectual property industry, the role of trademark agencies, and the opportunities and challenges ahead in a rapidly changing international environment.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by managing partner Simon Tsi, together with Tracy Shen, Vice Chair of the firm’s Management Committee, and Partner Emma Ma. During the roundtable, Simon Tsi provided a comprehensive overview of the firm’s history, its business development, and recent innovations in law firm management. He highlighted how Chang Tsi & Partners has grown into a full-service IP practice covering trademarks, patents, copyrights, and commercial legal services.

It is noted that in response to the increasing demand for IP protection among both domestic and international companies, the firm has expanded its global presence by establishing offices in the United States and Singapore. These offices enable the firm to provide more efficient, cross-border support for clients dealing with international trademark applications, disputes, and enforcement actions.

One of the key themes of the exchange was digital transformation. Chang Tsi & Partners has benchmarked itself against leading international firms to design a clear digital strategy. By strengthening internal systems, adopting advanced data management, the firm aims to improve case handling efficiency and accuracy. This dual approach ensures high-quality development while enhancing the client experience and reinforcing the firm’s competitiveness in the legal services market.

On the subject of globalization, as shifting dynamics in China-U.S. relations have significantly increased the importance of international IP strategies. Chinese enterprises pursuing global expansion must confront diverse legal systems, heightened competition, and enforcement complexities. To meet these demands, Chang Tsi & Partners has broadened its focus beyond North America to include Europe, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. This strategy is designed to offer tailored, market-specific legal solutions that help Chinese brands strengthen their global competitiveness while supporting the sustainable growth of the firm itself.

In addition to business growth and internationalization, Simon Tsi highlighted the firm’s commitment to corporate culture and social responsibility. In 2024, Chang Tsi & Partners launched the Employee Mutual Assistance Fund, which provides financial support to staff and their families facing unexpected hardships. This initiative reflects the firm’s efforts to foster a caring and inclusive workplace, ensuring employees feel secure and valued. According to Mr. Si, creating a supportive environment is just as vital as delivering excellent client service.

During the discussion, CTA President Ma Fu expressed his appreciation for Chang Tsi & Partners’ long-standing support of the Association. He commended the firm’s contributions to the development of China’s IP sector and stressed the growing significance of intellectual property in global competition.

President Ma noted that while Chinese enterprises are experiencing new opportunities in international markets, they also face pressing challenges. These include legal system differences, difficulties in enforcing trademark rights abroad, and intensified market competition. He emphasized that the Association will continue to act as a bridge, leveraging its resources to promote communication between agencies, enterprises, and international organizations. By doing so, the CTA aims to strengthen China’s global IP protection capabilities and enhance cooperation in trademark law.
President Ma also invited Chang Tsi & Partners to participate in the 15th China International Trademark Festival, which will be held in Taiyuan later this year. He encouraged the firm to showcase its expertise and industry leadership at the event and to continue its active involvement in the Association’s committees, working alongside peers to advance China’s trademark industry.

The visit by CTA leadership further deepened mutual understanding between the Association and Chang Tsi & Partners. Moving forward, the firm will continue to align closely with the Association’s initiatives, participate actively in policy discussions, and contribute to the evolution of China’s IP protection system.

Chang Tsi & Partners reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a professional and international outlook, strengthening its capacity to serve clients in complex IP matters, and collaborating openly with both domestic and global peers. Against the backdrop of globalization and digital transformation, the firm believes that the IP sector is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunities. By working hand in hand with the CTA and the broader industry, Chang Tsi & Partners aims to play a leading role in shaping the future of trademark and IP protection in China and beyond.
