On April 26, 2025, the China National Intellectual Property Administration officially released the "Typical Cases of Trademark Opposition and Review in 2024." The "Apollo Intelligent Connectivity (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. trademark number 59554235 '阿波罗' trademark opposition case," represented by counsel Lester Li and legal assistant Lilin Liu from Chang Tsi & Partners successfully selected as one of the top ten typical cases of the year.
The CNIPA specifically noted in its comments: "This case effectively protects the innovative achievements of leading companies in the intelligent driving industry and provides a useful reference for the protection of intellectual property rights in emerging technology fields." This official evaluation is not only an authoritative recognition of Chang Tsi's legal practice capabilities but also highlights the firm's benchmark status in the field of intellectual property dispute resolution.
The case originated from an attempt by a company to infringe upon the market reputation of a well-known domestic intelligent driving brand by preemptively registering the "Apollo" trademark. Faced with the urgent situation of the opposed trademark having passed the preliminary examination announcement, Lawyer Li Chao's team quickly launched a comprehensive legal offensive and defensive strategy: on one hand, they thoroughly organized a chain of evidence of the continuous use of the client's "Apollo" brand, covering over a hundred key materials related to product development, market promotion, and industry awards; on the other hand, they cited legal provisions from multiple angles and dimensions, tightly arguing various scenarios in which the prior trademark should not be registered. Ultimately, the National Intellectual Property Administration adopted the agency's opinion, determining that the opposed trademark constituted a substantial conflict with the client's previously established stable market identifier, and made a decision to not register it according to the law.
